NOVEMBER 13, 2017 REGULAR MEETING
FOR THE SKYLINE STAFF AND PATRONS

The Skyline Board of Education met in regular session Monday, November 13, 2017. Routine business included approval of minutes, payment of bills, Treasurer’s Report, and the SCKSEC October minutes.

The first item of business was the Superintendent’s report from Becca Flowers. Her report included the KSDE REDESIGN Project, KESA and upcoming special luncheons.

The Board approved contract with Tiffany Zimmerman as a Teacher’s Aid and approved the resignation of Amanda Collins. Kimberly Tritt was also appointed as the new District Treasurer.

The Board heard a report from Herb McPherson on the proposal to add High School Baseball and Softball in the 2018-19 school year. They also heard information on consideration of a new teacher aide position that will also be shared with SCKSEC.

The following KESA goals were accepted as goal areas for the current accreditation cycle: Relationship/Students, Relationships/Community, Relevance/Instruction and Relevance/Student Engagement.

Becca Flowers and Herb McPherson reported on their buildings’ activities.

The next meeting will be Monday, December 11, 2017 at 8:00 p.m.

Thunderbirds on the Prairie

Skyline Schools will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary the coming school year. Many great events will occur during the school year with a big event on Saturday, April 28th. Thunderbirds on the Prairie, our Inaugural Car Show is scheduled for Saturday, October 28, 2017. Mark your calendar to attend!carshow

JULY 10, 2017 REGULAR MEETING
FOR THE SKYLINE STAFF AND PATRONS

The Skyline Board of Education met in regular session Monday, July 10, 2017. Routine business included approval of minutes, payment of bills, PDC Reports and the SCKSEC June minutes.

An election was held first. Rex Robinson and Bob Kenworthy were re-elected to their President and Vice-President offices.

The first item of business was the Superintendent’s report from Becca Flowers. Her report included Goals, a Legislative Update, the FY2018 Budget and a Post Secondary Success Report created by KSDE. Mrs. Flowers reported that she will attend the Supreme Court Oral Arguments on the Gannon Case scheduled for July 18, 2017.

The Board approved contracts with Kenny Eddy as HS Head Basketball Coach and Lawana Robinson, Stacie Tharp and Jane Biles as Teacher’s Aids. The Board also accepted Karen Wilcox’s resignation as School Nurse.

The Board approved all the Board Organization items for FY2018 and Publishing of the Notice of Budget Hearing in August to be determined after the Supreme Court ruling regarding the school finance law.

Updates were reported on the new big gym roof scheduled for replacement on July 17, 2017 and a recent Facilities meeting.

The next meeting will be Monday, August 14, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. *Unless we are able to schedule the budget hearing for August 14, 2017 then the time may vary.

JUNE 12, 2017 REGULAR MEETING
FOR THE SKYLINE STAFF AND PATRONS

The Skyline Board of Education met in regular session Monday, June 12, 2017 and reconvened on June 30, 2017. Routine business included approval of minutes, payment of bills, Treasurer’s report, PDC Reports and the SCKSEC May minutes.

The first item of business was the Superintendent’s report from Becca Flowers. Her report included a Legislative Update, information on the patio being constructed at the front of the building and a listing of the summer projects.

The Board approved contracts with Trent Befort as MS Head Football Coach and John Wyer for the Building Maintenance position. The Board also accepted Aleta Gatz’s resignation as a Custodian/Teacher’s Aide, Steve Little’s resignation as the High School Boys Basketball Coach and High School Track Coach and Kathryn McAllister’s resignation as a High School Track Coach.

The Board also heard a request from Pat and Ludi Egging on the process for the Board to consider addition of High School Baseball and Softball.

The Board heard Principal Reports from Becca Flowers and Herb McPherson.

The Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding between USD#438 and the Pratt County Sheriff, Pratt County Court and the Pratt County Attorney, and after holding a public hearing approved the Interlocal Agreement to participate in the Pratt County Neighborhood Revitalization Plan. The Board also approved District Board Policy EE – Food Services Management – Unpaid Meal Charges
.

The Board also approved end of year transfers, the proposed 2017/18 School Fees and to allow Animal Science as a High School Science Credit and Accounting as a High School Math Credit.

The next meeting will be Monday, July 10, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.

MAY 8, 2017 REGULAR MEETING
FOR THE SKYLINE STAFF AND PATRONS

The Skyline Board of Education met in regular session Monday, May 8, 2017. Routine business included approval of minutes, payment of bills, Treasurer’s report, PDC Reports and the SCKSEC April minutes.

The first item of business was the Superintendent’s report from Becca Flowers. Her report included a Legislative update and a schedule of the end of year activities.

The Board approved contracts with Harmony Harts as elementary teacher. The Board also accepted Bjorn Halderson’s resignation as elementary teacher effective May 23, 2017 and Dan Kemmis’s resignation as Director of Maintenance effective June 30, 2017. The Board also approved the Classified and the amended Certified Staff Lists for 2017-2018.

The Board heard a Principal Report from Becca Flowers.

The Board accepted the bid from Mahaney Roofing to replace the gym roof and approved the following work projects: gym floor repair, pre-school playground, football field sprinkler system and maintenance of the football field grass. The Board also agreed to the sale of the maintenance pickup and blade. We will then purchase a tractor for snow removal.

The Board approved a gift from the Skyline Schools Foundation of a new outdoor Scoreboard for the football field. Upcoming Board of Educations elections were also discussed.

It was approved to have the MS/HS schedule return to a traditional semester schedule for 2017-18 and to hold a public hearing on our participation in the Pratt County Neighborhood Revitalization Plan.

The next meeting will be Monday, June 12 2017 at 6:30 a.m.

APRIL 10, 2017 REGULAR MEETING
FOR THE SKYLINE STAFF AND PATRONS

The Skyline Board of Education met in regular session Monday, April 10, 2017. Routine business included approval of minutes, payment of bills, Treasurer’s report, PDC Reports and the SCKSEC March minutes.

The first item of business was the Superintendent’s report from Becca Flowers. Her report included a Legislative Update, Facilities Update, Q3 Financial Update, and learning and networking opportunities.

The Board approved contracts with Lori Anschutz as Middle and High School Math Teacher and the revised Supplemental Contract List. The Board also accepted Michelle Keener’s resignation as Vocational Agricultural teacher effective June 30, 2017.

The Board heard Principals’ Report from Becca Flowers and Herb McPherson.

The Board authorized the purchase of two school vehicles not to exceed $55,000 and reviewed the proposed vehicle rotation plan and heard an update on the Gym Roof bids being accepted until May 1, 2017. Upcoming Board of Educations elections were also discussed.

The next meeting will be Monday, May 8, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.
