BOARD OF EDUCATION
JANUARY 9, 2017 REGULAR MEETING
FOR THE SKYLINE STAFF AND PATRONS
The Skyline Board of Education met in regular session Monday, January 9, 2017. Routine business included approval of minutes, payment of bills, Treasurer’s report, and the SCKSEC December minutes.
Ms. Keener and members of our newly established FFA Club gave a presentation on their recent trip to the National FFA Conference in Indianapolis.
The first item of business was the Superintendent’s report from Becca Flowers. Her report included a Legislative update, information on the I Love U Guys Foundation, Teacher Professional Learning and information about the upcoming facilities committee and site based council meetings.
Steven Novotny’s resignation as high school head football coach was accepted along with Brenda Piester’s retirement as Gifted Facilitator. The Board also approved contracting with Kirby Humphrey as the District’s Water and Wastewater Operator.
The Board heard Principals’ Report from Becca Flowers and Herb McPherson. They also heard a report from Herb McPherson and Diane House regarding the High School pre-enrollment process and creating a master schedule.
The Board also heard an update on the Pre-School being started in 2017-18 and an alternative to our current health insurance plan.
The Board also passed a resolution to extend the term of office for any elected board member whose term would expire at any time in 2017 until the second Monday in January of 2018.
The next meeting will be Monday, February 13, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.
