NEWS RELEASE FROM THE
BOARD OF EDUCATION
AUGUST 8, 2016 REGULAR MEETING
FOR THE SKYLINE STAFF AND PATRONS
The Skyline Board of Education met in regular session Monday, August 8, 2016. Routine business included payment of bills, Treasurer’s reports, and the SCKSEC Minutes.
The first item of business was the Superintendent’s report from Becca Flowers: Budget and Finances, the Adequacy Hearing scheduled for September 21, 2016, FY16 Audit and 2016-17 Enrollment.
Old Business included information on a Monsanto Grant, the HVACs and controls, roof repairs, bus purchases and leases and Driver’s Education class.
Contracts were issued to Nancy Bixler as second grade teacher for the 2016-17 school year and to Jaimee Browning for a food service positions for the 2016-17 school year.
The Board approved the 2016-17 Budget; Professional Development – Service to the Profession Reports for Joyce Temanson (4); KASB Proposed Board Policy Updates; the 2016-17 Activity Pass list; the proposed Middle School and High School Handbook changes; appointed Rex Robinson as the Governmental Relations Network representative; Allen Smith at the Skyline Site Council representative; agreed to a mentoring agreement for Cheri Haskett, Michelle Keener, Pam Lucas and Chris Sanders; requested Becca Flowers to proceed with a plan for establishing BOE Vision and Goals; and also agreed to allow the High School Football team to have Wednesday evening practices on August 24th and August 31st, 2016 due to calendar constraints.
The next meeting will be Monday, September 12, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.
