BOARD OF EDUCATION
JULY 11, 2016 REGULAR MEETING
FOR THE SKYLINE STAFF AND PATRONS
The Skyline Board of Education met in regular session Monday, July 11, 2016. Routine business included payment of bills, Treasurer’s reports, and the SCKSEC Minutes.
The first item of business was the Superintendent’s report from Becca Flowers on her goals, a Legislative report, KELI Superintendent Mentoring and the Audit FY2016.
Old Business included information on the HVACs and controls, roof repairs, and the implementation of a new personnel organization chart.
The Board approved the following resignation: Kathryn McAllister as the Girls Weights and Conditioning Coach effective June 30, 2016. They also approved Kathy Hogan’s retirement effective September 1, 2016.
Contracts were issued to Melissa Jacobs as part-time Gifted Education teacher and to Kristi Nelson as second grade teacher effective January 3, 2017 pending acquisition of a valid teaching license. The Board also appointed Jerry DeWeese to the Board of Education vacancy.
The Board approved raising the fee for Driver’s Education class to $150/student for students who attend Skyline and $200/students for students who do not attend Skyline and the proposed changes to the Elementary, Middle and High School Wellness plans. They also approved: the FY2017 Designations; resolution to rescind the Board of Education policies; adoption of a GAAP waiver; establishing the school year as 1116 hours; participation in the following federal programs for FY2017: Title I, Improving Basic Programs; Title IIA, Teacher Quality; Title III, English Language Acquisition; State & Federal Food Service Programs; and Carl Perkins; establishing the mileage reimbursement rate to .54/mile; and membership in KASB, KASB Legal Assistance, SFF, SQE, Pratt Area Chamber of Commerce and SCKESC.
The Board approved the Notice of Hearing for the August 8, 2016 budget hearing and agreed to the termination of after school study skills.
The next meeting will be Monday, August 8, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. This will be the budget hearing immediately followed by the regular Board of Education meeting.
