NEWS RELEASE FROM THE
BOARD OF EDUCATION
JANUARY 11, 2016 REGULAR MEETING
FOR THE SKYLINE STAFF AND PATRONS

The Skyline Board of Education met in regular session Monday, January 11, 2016. Routine business included payment of bills, Treasurer’s report, and the SCKSEC Minutes.

The first item of business was the Superintendent’s report from Becca Flowers on a Legislative Report and KSDE Accreditation/Vision. Jane Melroy presented on programs that she currently implements to our students through the SKDE Accreditation/Vision that provides them with training and certification in Business related subjects. The Board also heard building reports from Becca Flowers and Herb McPherson.

The Board approved contracts with Diane House, High School facilitator, and Ashley Brown, Bus Driver; Christina Bunker, Substitute Bus Driver; Tom Garland, Bus Driver; Sandra Hirt; Bus Driver; Mellisa Price; Bus Driver and Kitchen worker; and Betty Young, Bus Driver. The Board also approved the following retirement request, Pat Brant, Middle School and High School Family and Consumer Sciences teacher and a resignation from Sebastian Huelskamp as the Technology teacher.

In other business, our Capital Outlay Resolution was discussed for possible future action. We also discussed the impact on our district of the wind farm scheduled to be built in southern Pratt County in 2016. The Board also set the Driver’s Education fee to $110 for in-district students and $220 for students that do not attend Skyline Schools.

The next meeting will be Monday, February 15, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.
